We analysed more than 70 long-tail keywords and 700 blog post that was ranking on google’s first page, and the result was surprising. All the content had three things in common, high domain authority, a good amount of backlinks, long-form content and keyword-optimized. But, there was one thing we found to be different. For every ten contents, there were two contents which had less Domain Authority but ranked higher than the blog with high DA.
But why was that?
So we analyzed and compared both contents with high and average DA and PA. And we found out that, long-form content and SEO optimized content tend to outperform content with good links but average SEO writing.

3. How to write SEO Content’s that connects with your audience
In order to write content that will resonate with someone, you must have an idea of who is going to read it.
To define your audience in writing, you must first know what an audience is. Your audience is defined as a group of people that you intend for your content to be read by. It’s important to consider your audience when writing so that you can optimize your content to best serve the reader.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE?
Writing for an audience will help guide how you structure your work, what kind of language you use, what information you include and how you approach each topic. For example, if you are writing a blog for small business owners that may need digital marketing or website help, you should make sure to explain web-related topics and keywords thoroughly.
New research shows that younger brains can process information faster than older generations, making it easier for them to transition from task to task. Generations that grew up in this era are conditioned to constantly change their focus. Comparatively, older adults can focus and learn better due to a more resilient and longer-lasting attention span.
Information (SEO content)
This information determines how your content should be structured depending on the generation you are catering to. For example, if you write pieces for a lifestyle blog that is aimed at college students, the format of your blog should be easy to digest, short, and to the point. Your readers are probably looking for answers, and they want them right away. However, if you write content for a website that is frequented by Baby Boomers or Gen Xers, then your pieces should be longer, more in-depth and informational.
Below I will pen down a list of powerful tips, you can use to connect with your audience
- Know your Audience Persona; Audience personas are used by marketing agencies and businesses to better market their products to consumers and uncover human truths. Finding out your reader’s persona will help you to understand your audience’s needs and desires and allow you to discover their interests and how they spend their time.
- Create A Bond; After you’ve established who your audience is, you need to dive into what your audience is looking for. Your audience persona will give insight into how your audience goes about their daily lives, which is imperative to understanding how to empathize and relate to them. How can you help? Once you’ve uncovered some daily challenges or frustrations that your reader encounters, you can provide a solution. If you’ve correctly identified your target audience, then your brand should be able to solve a problem they face
- Be Helpful; Your content should provide useful and beneficial information. You want it to stick with and influence your reader. The same information is available everywhere, so you want to create original content. Because users are used to finding the answers to their questions in a second, your content should be formatted so that it’s easy to scan.
- Be Informative; While many pieces of content will end in a call-to-action, the content should still be informative and objective. Provide facts and not just opinions. Instead of focusing on persuading the reader to click your CTA, you should keep the user in mind and cater your content to the answers they’re looking for.
- Be Personable; While your first priority is to provide for the reader, don’t be afraid to let your own personality show. In order to connect with your reader, your writing needs to foster a personal relationship.
– Share personal stories- Include photos and video- Encourage readers to engage with your content- Write as you speak
And don’t forget to optimize content with your target keyword. While focusing only on writing for your audience, you may miss your SEO practice.
4. Long-Form Content ( The SEO content writing best practices)
In April 2016, a study was published after the authors studied one million Google search results. As part of their findings, they wrote the following (bolding theirs): “We found that longer content tends to rank higher in Google’s search results. The average Google first page result contains 1,890 words.” They also analyzed 10,000 of the URLs in their study for “topical authority,” concluding that “comprehensive content significantly outperformed shallow content.”
Why you should write long-form content
benefits of creating quality long-form content include the following:
Higher online visibility through better search engine ranking
SerpIQ did a study on the correlation between post length and search engine ranking. The study threw up interesting facts like the search ranking position changed with the length of the content. Posts with a content-length above 2,000 words easily the top ranks. The graph below from serpIQ establishes that;
improves social media sharing
A great thing about long-form content is that it contains several links to external articles published on the internet. The linking aids the link building efforts of the publishers who have published the interlinked articles. To boost their linking efforts, they further share the parent article on social media.
Also, long-form content enriched with detailed analysis or information persuades people to share it. There is a higher likelihood that people will share something on social media that they find to be useful or trustworthy. Moreover, almost every blog post has social buttons that again facilitate linking and sharing of the post. This further extends the viral spread of the article thus facilitating content marketing
Search engines rank high-quality long-term content
Long-form content gives you the facility to pop in as much as keywords as you want across the content. However, Google and its bots look at every content with a microscopic eye for quality. Your long-form content is as good as nothing if the quality is not anything but commendable.
Take, for instance, BuzzFeed. The content-based website has tons of detailed stories called BigStories from all over the Internet and the real-world that makes it a brand that customers trust and spend much time on.
Generates better reader value
Another great advantage, perhaps the most important among all is that long-form content creates awesome value for readers. They tend to get more than what they come for from long-form content.
Take for instance the case of Wait but Why a popular blog that publishes long-form content on several interesting topics, most of which goes viral. Wait but Why readers swear that they get more information and insights than what is available anywhere else on the Internet.
The long content articles are so engaging that some posts even win up to 2 Million+ social sharing.
Long-form SEO content boosts conversion
In the end, it all boils down to one question: Can it pump up my conversion rates? Content marketing using long-form content can be punctuated with call-to-actions that can generate leads and ultimately conversions.
Long-form content creates a vast stretch of space for setting up strategically placed CTAs that readers can click on if they are interested in a product or service.
In a Nutshell
Long-form content has what it takes to maximize the website traffic, social sharing and website authority. It is undeniably a tool for marketers to maximize their conversions through sharing of knowledge, information and anything that can be considered worthy.
5. Insert Infographics, images and videos in your content
Infographics may seem like just pretty graphics, but there is more to them than meets the eye. Infographics are a knock-out when it comes to SEO
In 2017, a study published in Forbes stated that 56%* of businesses were using infographics for marketing and sales, 74% of marketers rely on visual messaging for social media, and 84% of them say that they have proven to be an effective media in their mix.
Since 2017 was the year that mobile finally cracked the majority of total web traffic (50.3%), the easy-to-view infographic was even better consumed and shared than it ever was before.
Images and videos are another valuable knockdowns when it comes to SEO. n January 1996, Bill Gates published an essay titled ‘Content is king’. Seeing where content is right now in the online space, you wouldn’t be wrong in calling Bill Gates a soothsayer.
But he couldn’t have foreseen the kind of content that would dominate the online space: video.
Videos have a hegemonic online presence.
But, why video?
A video is very accessible, easy to consume and engages the audience’s attention for longer periods of time. A video contains much more information than text and images.
People are more inclined to watch a video. Do this little experiment:
Search for Red Bull or Monster Energy or Vice in Bing. You are sure to get video results right at the top. That’s because these brands have focused their branding on video content, and hence are more likely to be popular as more and more people watch videos.
Now search for Lockheed, Gatorade or Bose, in Bing and you’re way less likely to find a first-page video result.
How does it help SEO?
The ease, accessibility, and immersion of video mean that people spend a long time watching content that you produce.
If you can make an engaging video, people spend more time on your webpage, increasing what is called the ‘dwell time’. Dwell time was mentioned in a Bing blog way back in 2011.
More dwell time directly translates to Google recognizing your video and the page it’s featured on as something of value. The more dwell time you have, the better your pages will be ranked. Sweet!
6. Put some Internal links and external links on your post
In order to have a strong SEO strategy for your website, you’ll need to understand the difference between an internal link and an external link, and how they can improve your SEO strategy. Using relevant internal and external links on your site will ultimately improve the visibility and rank of your website.
Internal Links vs. External Links
Internal links, also known as inbound links, are hyperlinks that direct the reader to the target page on your website, whereas an external link is a hyperlink that directs the reader to a reputable page on a different website. External links may seem counter-intuitive — after all, you don’t want customers clicking on links that direct them away from your site. However, linking to trustworthy material (from authority sites) helps you also appear to be an authority and can help Google figure out what your content is about for SEO purposes.
It’s important to keep in mind that other sites for different companies can provide external links to your website in their own content as well. For instance, if you publish a blog post with useful content, another company may link back to it as a source for their own blog. These types of links to your site are key, as they boost your ranking in Google’s search algorithm.
Benefits of Internal Links
Internal links on a web page will help a viewer to stay engaged with your website longer. This may encourage them to become a customer or follower. These links are more accessible to viewers, and they increase the authority of your web pages and overall site. Internal links are often used as a call-to-action. For example, they might prompt a viewer to read or learn more about a topic by clicking on the internal link, or else ask a viewer to contact you or schedule a visit.
Benefits of External Links
The quality and quantity of the external links that you use matters. Adding trustworthy and informative website links of high quality to your pages will help improve the credibility of your website, whereas adding poor-quality links will hurt your site. Linking to outside websites will not hurt your page rank as long as the relevant content you’re linking to comes from authoritative sites. An external link is more valuable if it links to popular and relevant pages that are highly ranked and related to the content on your web page. Valuable external links will also help to improve the authority of your website, by providing a viewer with references.
There are a lot of factors that need to be considered when search engines like Google have the power to determine ranking factors and are thus more visible to a viewer. Internal and external links are an important component of a strong SEO strategy and help boost SEO ranking power.
7. Website optimization & User Experience
simple ways to immediately improve the user experience on your website
Check your site speed
Have you ever been on a website that takes forever to load? You probably never visited again, right?
The speed of your site is one of the most important elements for improving the user experience on your website. Nowadays, website visitors expect fast results and won’t wait around for your website to load, so you need to make sure your site loads quickly.
Be responsive and mobile-friendly
Your website must be responsive and mobile-friendly. There’s no way around it. People are accessing your website not only on a desktop but also through their phones and tablets, so it’s imperative for your design to load properly into the different sized screens that people use.
Google has also started penalizing websites that aren’t mobile-friendly, so if you want to show up in the search results (which I’m sure you do!), you’ll want your website to be responsive.
Clear and concise navigation
The navigation on your website is the way to guide your website visitors to your top-visited pages and products. The navigation headings should use language that is easily understandable, especially for the brand new visitor to your website.
You also shouldn’t have too many options, as that will overwhelm the user. There isn’t a set number that you should use, but try to keep it in the range of 3-7.
Use hyperlink differentiation.
When you add a link to any page, you’re saying you want the user to click there. Make sure links are easily identifiable by visual cues. Underlined text and different coloured text draws the attention of the reader and lets them know this is a link to be clicked on.
Achieving SEO friendly content is not a one-and-done affair. It requires continual upkeep and constant content production to support relevance and value in the eyes of target audiences and search engines. SEO best practices are always evolving, with some changes toppling once highly-ranked websites and forcing them into the oblivion of search engine results pages.
